How to Find a Job on Craigslist

Craigslist is a great place to start looking for a job. Often, you will find several different listings that fit the type of job you are looking for, and you can contact the employers quickly. Craigslist also provides a convenient way to find the job you want, since the listings are broken down into clear categories.

Things You'll Need

• Internet access
• Craiglist account
• Computer

Instructions

1. Log onto the Craigslist homepage (see link below). Choose your location on the right side of the screen.

2. Find the category in which you are looking for work under the "Jobs" heading. You can always use the back button and search through several different categories.

3. Browse through the jobs until you find one you like. Note down the contact email and print out the job description.

4. Reply to the email as requested.

5. Make a list of the jobs you have applied to, noting the date and time of application, so you can keep track of the responses.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure you look through all the possible categories. The perfect job may just be a few more entries down.

• Reply to the emails as directed. Don't send samples or resumes unless they are requested. The inability to follow directions will not make you a good candidate.

• Be sure to keep track of all the jobs you respond to, so you can send a follow-up note if you don't hear back for a while.

• Don't send personal information (including a resume) until you are sure the listing is legitimate. Be wary of job descriptions with little detail.
