Making new connections through MySpace is what MySpace is all about. This online social network is the perfect place to make every kind of connection you’d like: social, romantic, familial or business. By creating an enticing profile, befriending the right people and growing your network of MySpace friends, your connection tree will grow tall and strong.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • MySpace account
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Create a profile that targets your audience. If you want to make connections with family, make a family-friendly profile. If you want to attract clients, make your profile more business oriented.

  2. Step 2

Add friends in the circles you want to contact, and post on these people’s profile. The idea is to get your name or the name of your company out into the milieu of MySpace.

  3. Step 3

Spread your name through one-on-one messaging. Find people who fit the bill for “hubs” of your target audience. Loquacious fans and well-connected proponents of your cause and/or site are a good place to start.

  4. Step 4

Make a user-created group. Start a group touting your cause (such as gathering the family, selling your goods or hocking your band) and invite the key players to join.

  5. Step 5

Use the search feature to find specific users: users who share your interests, or who might be interested in your profile. Invite them to be your MySpace friends and broaden your social network.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don’t post anything online that might discourage connections or cause you embarrassment in the future.
  • Make your site broad and appealing to as many demographics as you can.
  • If you're searching for a romantic encounter, be honest when posting information regarding your relationship status and physical appearance. If people are genuinely interested but then find out your profile is fabricated, it can only go downhill.
  • Be careful about displaying too much personal information or giving out that information via messaging. Any information you post on MySpace is viewable by any person with an Internet connection.
