Once you are connected to MySpace, you have access to millions of users. With that kind of audience, it is easy to promote your Web site. Whether your online content deals with Impressionist paintings or the fate of an unlucky NFL team, you can attract other MySpace users to your site and share your opinions with the world. Here is how to promote your Web site on MySpace.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • MySpace account
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Spend some time jotting down ideas on a sheet of scratch paper. Analyze your Web site for strong points and unique features, and incorporate these items in your text. Also jot down the URL for your site.

  2. Step 2

Login to your MySpace account, or sign up for one. Create an interesting MySpace page that describes you, your business, your band or whatever you wish. Be creative and informative.

  3. Step 3

Use the Blog feature to write an in-depth description of your other Web site (the one you wish to promote) and why people should visit it. Include several links to the site throughout the text.

  4. Step 4

Use the "Classifieds" feature to paste your links in the appropriate sections.

  5. Step 5

Send emails to your MySpace friends and invite them to take a look at your new blog and your Web site.

  6. Step 6

Join a blog group or other group. This will help pinpoint specific people who might be interested in your site.

  7. Step 7

Invite more and more people to be your friends on MySpace. Send regular bulletins to these people announcing any news, always including a link to your Web site.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your account must be at least seven days old before you can post a blog or classified ad. MySpace does this to discourage spammers. If you are new to MySpace, use the waiting time to write the content for your first blog post.
  • You may be able to promote your Web site on the forums; however, the forum rules state that attention-seeking threads will be deleted.
  • If your Web site doesn’t seem to fit any of the existing blog groups, don’t despair. Make up your own blog group. Remember that column on the "Blog Control Center" page? At the top you will see a bar labeled “My Blog Groups.” Click on “Create a Blog Group” to get started.
  • Be a courteous MySpace member. Do not post telephone numbers, physical addresses, last names, porn or violent content on MySpace.
