The forms your MySpace profile can take are limitless. You don't even need to know much about HTML or javascript in order to make it. Follow these steps to create an interesting MySpace page.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet access
  • MySpace account
  • Computer
Step1
Start with the basics. Visit MySpace and click “Sign Up!” Fill out as much personal information as possible.
Step2
Upload a variety of pictures. MySpace lets you upload many photos; so show all of your sides. Include a traditional pose, a sexy pose and a goofy pose--or anything you can think of! Include pictures that demand an explanation. Write an interesting caption for them.
Step3
Write good content. Once you have your page setup, fill it with your wit and natural charm. This is not the time to be stiff or formal. If you've got something funny to say, say it!
Step4
Include some applets and other features. There are a lot of cut and paste scripts on the web. Just do a web search for “MySpace scripts” or “MySpace extras.” Include two or three good ones. Aim for something novel or highly customizable.
Step5
Change the layout. You can do this with basic HTML by including tags while building your page or you can use a quick and easy Myspace editor. Search the internet for “MySpace editors” or find a link on one of your friends’ customized pages.
Step6
Add songs to your profile by clicking on your favorite band’s MySpace page. In their "Songs" section, click “Add” to put the song on your profile. It will play automatically whenever someone visits your page.
Step7
Update often! Change your profile pic from time to time. Get subscribers and update those blogs. Rotate your scripts and tweak your interests. Always have something new to offer.

Tips & Warnings

  • They key is presentation. All MySpace pages have essentially the same content (pictures and biographical details). Utilize scripts to deliver it in an interesting manner. Use slideshows for pictures and drop-down menus for lists of favorite bands. Include links that explain inside jokes and obsessions.
  • Never answer a question straight. Irony and wackiness thrive on MySpace.
  • Adopting a persona or theme for your profile can be quite entertaining, if not over the top. You don’t have to be you on the Internet.
  • Keep it basic. This isn’t the 90s anymore. No one's impressed by flashing backgrounds and blinking tags. Overly complicated codes tend to slow older machines and test viewers' patience.
  • Make your layout browser-friendly. Not all computers have the same resolution. Not everyone uses the same browser. Make sure your profile will be readable by all users.
  • Videos are cool sometimes--but only if your viewers like what you like. Make sure they don’t auto-play and make sure they don’t take all day to load.
