Changing the battery on a Palm Z22 can be difficult. Just remember to take your time, handle the PDA delicately and read the warnings below before you begin.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Star-bit screwdriver
  • Palm Z22
  • Battery
  1. Step 1

Take off the cover on the back of your PDA by pulling down on it. This will reveal some screws on the rear of the device.

  2. Step 2

Use the star-bit screwdriver to loosen the screws.

  3. Step 3

Make sure that there are no tabs connected to the circuit board of Z22. You will need a technician to disconnect the tabs. If they are present, do not go any further.

  4. Step 4

Move the cover off of the Palm PDA. You will see the battery in a battery case; flip the battery towards the top of the case to get a better look at it.

  5. Step 5

Look for the cord connecting the battery to your PDA. Pull up from the base plug of the power cord and disconnect the battery.

  6. Step 6

Remove the old battery from the case and insert the new battery. Place the new battery cord back into the position you removed it from. Place the battery in the same position as the old battery before you moved it.

  7. Step 7

Put the rear cover back on the Z22 and let it charge for at least 4 hours before using.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some battery shops package a star-bit screwdriver with each replacement battery they sell. Check if this required tool is included in the purchase price; otherwise, pick one up at the hardware store.
  • Be very delicate. Don’t use force to remove parts.
  • If your battery has a blue casing on it, do not try to change the battery.
  • Make sure nothing is attached to the circuit board of the PDA when removing casing.
