Step 1
Think about what you want to use a PDA for. Low-end PDA’s may not be enough for you if you want to store a large amount of music or media files. When shopping, don't forget to look for a headphone jack and speaker.
-
Step 2
Check to see how much memory the PDA has and whether it can accommodate a memory card. You'll need at least 8 megabytes of RAM to play MP3s without problems.
-
Step 3
Ask the sales person about memory card capability. Look for a memory card slot on the bottom of the PDA.
-
Step 4
Estimate what you can afford to spend on a PDA. Prices can range from $100 to more than $400. More expensive PDA’s are usually better in quality and can handle more software.
-
Step 5
Make sure the PDA is compatible with your home PC system or Mac. Try to buy a PDA with MP3 software that can easily communicate with the MP3 software on your home computer. Also check for its Internet capability for downloading files.
-
Step 6
Consider what size of PDA you're looking for. Some can be large and cumbersome. You may want a smaller one for convenience while playing MP3s.
-
Step 7
Look at the screen to make sure you can read it clearly from all angles. Make sure the screen is legible.
-
Step 8
Try it out before you purchase your PDA. Take a look at the MP3 software on the device to determine if it's user friendly. Also listen for tone quality.
