Things You'll Need:
- Map of New York City
- Computer with Internet access
-
Step 1
Dress warmly in the winter months, especially in January. Although warmer than the rest of the state, it can still get several feet of snow per storm.
-
Step 2
Plan on taking part in one or more of the exciting annual festivals. Most are in the summer and fall months, like the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy or the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
-
Step 3
Go up to the top of the Empire State Building and look over the city from dizzying heights. Take your camera for unforgettable photos.
-
Step 1
Fly to New York City via one of three airports--John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, or the Newark Liberty International Airport (New Jersey). All three have shuttle service into the city and taxis and limousines are available, too.
-
Step 2
Rent a car at the airport; this gives you the greatest freedom in travel. Rent the car for a week, even if you're not planning on staying that long. Return it early, and your charges will be pro-rated.
-
Step 3
Take public transportation from your luxury accommodations to your sightseeing destinations. The subway is easily accessible in most places, and taxis will take you anywhere the subway doesn't.
-
Step 1
To book accommodations, contact NYC & Company at (212) 484 1200 or visit their Web site (see Resources, below). Stay near Park Avenue. This ritzy destination street hosts many luxury accommodations, and puts you near great shopping and dining.
-
Step 2
Select your luxury accommodations in the heart of Manhattan's east side. Be near the Trump Tower, Madison Avenue, Rockefeller Center and Central Park. Expect to pay between $250 and $500 per night for a four-star chain hotel.
-
Step 3
Stay further out from the traffic and noise for a little peace and quiet. Choose a hotel on the bay (Coney Island or Sheepshead Bay) for three to four-star luxury with a price tag of several hundred dollars a night.
