Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Photo
  • Photo paper
  • High quality ink
  • Printer
  1. Step 1

Use a good digital camera. For good 4 x 6 inch and 8 x 10 inch prints, you’ll want a camera with at least two or three megapixels.

  2. Step 2

Buy photo paper. Spend that extra dollar to get specially designed, high-gloss photo paper that is specifically designed for your printer.

  3. Step 3

Use photo ink. High quality photos take high quality ink. Don’t use the same ink that you use for documents.

  4. Step 4

Optimize your settings. Open up your "Printer Properties" in the "Control Panel" and find the "Preferences" or "Quality" tab. Set the quality to the highest or choose a photo preset.

  5. Step 5

Edit photos on your computer. Import your photos from a CD or your digital camera. See your camera’s manual to find out more.

  6. Step 6

Crop and resize. Cut out anything extra in the background that you don’t want and resize the picture so it will fit on the page.

  7. Step 7

Select "Print Preview." Make sure everything looks good before printing.

  8. Step 8

    Print!

Tips & Warnings
  • After printing, lay your photos out flat for a couple of hours so they’ll dry without curling.
  • Cleaning your printheads regularly and running other self maintenance options can keep the quality of your print outs high.
  • Paper goes in glossy side up.
  • Avoid blowing up your pictures digitally as this reduces the quality. Instead, crop before you resize.
