Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Epson Laser Printer
  1. Step 1

Look at the printer. Check all plugs to make sure they are connected properly. Make sure there is paper in the printer.

  2. Step 2

Borrow someone to help you. Have a friend look at the printer. Is there something you might be missing? Even a trained eye misses something now and then.

  3. Step 3

Pinpoint the problem area. You don’t need to be able to diagnose the exact problem in this step; you just need to narrow your scope. Are you having problems with the ink or the paper supply? There is a completely different course of action for each problem area.

  4. Step 4

Find the troubleshooting area in your owner’s manual. You will be able to find step-by-step instructions on how to diagnose and fix common problems. Just follow the instructions here and you should be set.

  5. Step 5

Go to the Epson Web site for more help. There are easy instructions there that can help you with most problems.

  6. Step 6

Call customer service. The representatives will be able to guide you through more detailed instructions to get your printer back on track. Also, if you need parts or need to send the printer in for more in-depth work, they will be able to assist you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check the paper supply line to make sure there are no small pieces of paper blocking the track. Make sure that your paper in the load tray is free of folds and wrinkles and is crisp.
  • Remove the toner cartridge, shake it and replace it. Sometimes all you need to do is shake the cartridge to put a laser printer back in working order.
  • Try turning the printer off and then back on. That might be all it needs to fix whatever is wrong.
  • Customer service toll-free lines are sometimes jammed. Be ready for a wait at peak times.
