How to Replace a Toner Cartridge in a Canon Laser Printer
When you run out of ink, the easiest way to be able to print again is to change the cartridge yourself. Many models are user-friendly, which makes replacing the cartridge quick and easy to do. Follow these steps to replace a toner cartridge in a Canon Laser Printer:

Open the lid of the printer and take the cartridge out. Look for numbers in bold print on the cartridge, identifying what type and size it is.

Write the model number of the printer down on a piece of paper, along with the numbers from the cartridge. When this is done, place the cartridge back into the printer.

Take the paper to your local office-supply store, and have a salesperson help you find the correct cartridge.

Open your new cartridge at home and make sure to follow the directions on properly removing the packaging.

Take the old cartridge out and place it in the garbage (or in a plastic bag to recycle).

Insert the new cartridge, following the diagram and instructions in your owner's manual or the ones posted on the lid of the printer.
