Determine if Craigslist is Available in Your City

1. Go to the Craigslist Web site (see link below).

2. Look for your state or location on the far right side of the Craigslist page. Click on the link.

3. Now look for your city. Click on your city or the city nearest your location.

4. If your city is listed, that is a good indicator that Craigslist is used in your area. If your city is not listed, you may have trouble finding buyers for your items.

Determine if What You are Selling is Commonly Sold on Craigslist

1. Go to your city on Craigslist.

2. Look for the "Search Craigslist" area on the right of the page.

3. Click on the drop-down arrow underneath the search box and pick the appropriate category.

4. Type in the item that you intend to sell in the search box. Click the arrow to go to the next step. Be sure that "For Sale" was chosen in the drop-down box.

5. Enter a minimum and maximum price. Once you have determined whether what you are selling is commonly sold on Craigslist, go back to the city page.

Post Your Ad on Craigslist

1. Click on "Post to Classifieds" and choose which category and subcategory fits what you are selling. Now you will create your ad.

2. Enter a title and description of your services or item and provide an email address. Click "Continue."

3. Enter the verification word and click "Continue," or choose "Edit" to fix any problems with the article.

4. Accept or decline the terms of use. You will be sent a link to your email that will give you the choice to publish, edit or delete your ad.

5. Post another ad or return to the homepage.
