Instructions

    • 1

Visit the MySpace Web site and sign up or log in using your username and password.

    • 2

Find your friends. If your friends already have a profile, go ahead and add them first. Click "Search" on the top toolbar. Here you can find friends by typing in their real names, screen names or email addresses.

    • 3

Add your friends. Visit their profiles and click "Add to Friends." Confirm on the next page and wait for them to accept your request.

    • 4

Browse by location to find more friends. If you click "Browse" on the top toolbar you can type in your zip code and a radius within which to search. This is the quickest way to find people from your town.

    • 5

Browse through your friends' friends. Visit the profiles of friends already on your list in search of mutual friends. Read through the comments and picture comments and sift through their friends' lists.

    • 6

Invite other friends. If your friends haven't jumped on the MySpace wagon yet, invite them to join! Click the "Invite" link on the top toolbar. Here you can either type in their email addresses individually or import your contacts from your Web mail. Include a personal message so they know it's not junk mail and click "Send Invite."

    • 7

Advertise. Choose an easy-to-remember MySpace address when you sign up (use your screen name or a nickname without special characters or underscores). Include the link to your page in the signature of your emails and forum posts, on your album's liner notes, in your instant-messenger profile and on your blogs.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't forget to accept new friend requests! Check your inbox for friends waiting for you to confirm. They will automatically be added to your list once you confirm them.

  • When importing contacts for mass invites, be sure to leave out your boss or any other school or work contacts. It may not bode well for employers or school officials to witness your zany profile.
