The Palm Z22 made its entrance into the long line of Palm handhelds by offering easy-to-use features, appealing to the electronically inept who had been avoiding the world of PDAs. As with most other electronic devices, however, the battery life may not always keep up with your ongoing schedule. Here are some ideas for increasing the battery life of a Palm Z22.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Charging cradle
  • Owner's manual
  • Palm Z22
  1. Step 1

Leave your Palm Z22 on its cradle for at least 3 to 4 hours when charging it for the first time. Even if it shows a full charge, leaving it on longer will help to lengthen the battery life.

  2. Step 2

Turn your backlight down to at least 50%. Keeping your backlight consistently on high can drastically wear down your battery life. The Palm Z22 boasts a beautiful screen, but do not let it detract from your usage.

  3. Step 3

Avoid long, frequent HotSync operations. During the synchronization process, try using the fastest method possible. Typically, USB is the fastest and IR is the slowest.

  4. Step 4

Activate the “Auto-Off” feature on your Palm Z22. This will turn your handheld off after sitting idle for a period of time, thus saving your battery life.

  5. Step 5

Consider buying a battery extender, which is essentially an external way to continue your Palm’s charge. A battery pack holds replaceable batteries, which you connect to your handheld, leaving the handheld’s battery fully charged until the external pack powers down.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are near electrical outlets and need continuous use of your Palm Z22, plug it in. Don’t forget that you don’t need to be at home to charge your pocket PC.
  • The Palm Z22 offers one of the longer battery lives of handhelds.
