Even if you have an old computer without a USB port, you can still use a USB mouse. Follow the steps below to use a USB mouse with an older computer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • USB mouse
  • USB to PS/2 adapter

Step1
Buy a reliable USB to PS/2 adapter.
Step2
Install the drivers for the USB adapter using the CD provided with the adapter. Some adapters don’t require software installation. If you have a Windows XP operating system, the drivers should be installed automatically once you connect the mouse.
Step3
Connect the mouse's USB connector to the adapter.
Step4
Connect the adapter to the PS/2 port of the computer. The computer will usually detect the new hardware and install the drivers automatically. Your USB mouse is ready to use.
