The Audio Player plugin for WordPress allows you to add a podcast media file into your post. By downloading and using this plugin, a flash player will be inserted directly onto your Web page.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to http://1pixelout.net/code/audio-player-wordpress-plugin/ and download the Audio Player zip file.

  2. Step 2

Use an unzipping program to extract the file.

  3. Step 3

Install the plugin file from your hard drive in the plugin file for your WordPress installation.

  4. Step 4

Login to your WordPress account and activate the player with the Admin tool.

  5. Step 5

Make a post to your blog and insert your MP3 file link. Your link should look something like this: audio:yourfilename.mp3.

  6. Step 6

If you're linking to a file on a server host site, your link will look something like this: audio:http://www.serversite.com/path/yourfilename.mp3.

Tips & Warnings
  • Encode your MP3 files at a rate of either 11.025 kHz or 44.100 kHz. This will prevent them from sounding sped up on the Flash player.
  • Go to "Admin" to change the Audio Player's color scheme.
  • This plugin will only work on pages and posts. It cannot be used in headers, footers or sidebars.
