Instructions

    • 1

Remove all paper from the trays. This will prevent more paper from being pulled in while you're clearing the jam, and it will simplify the process by removing any loose paper.

    • 2

Take the outer casing cover off your Epson laser printer. This will expose the jammed paper.

    • 3

Pull on the jammed paper gently. Most of the time, this will dislodge it, and it should smoothly roll out of your printer.

    • 4

Press the flashing button on the outer casing. This will enable the rotors to move the jammed paper forward and out.

    • 5

Unplug the printer if the jam persists. You now can pull more firmly because the gears will not be working against your pulling while the printer has no power.

    • 6

Remove any pieces of paper that may remain in the printer. If the jammed papers ripped when you pulled on them, clear any remnants from the printer because they may inhibit normal printing function. Use tweezers to pull out small, hard-to-reach pieces.

    • 7

Try printing again. Plug in your printer and refill the paper tray. If problems persist, clear any remaining jams.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you cannot clear the jam, or if there is another more complex problem, consider hiring a professional repair person.

  • Make sure the type of printer and type of printer paper are compatible. Consult the manufacturer's Web site (www.epson.com) or owner's manual to be sure.

  • Make sure you are pulling the paper in the right direction. Pull the paper forward, the way it usually travels, in order to avoid grinding the gears in the printer.
