When purchasing a printer, speed is an important feature. Inkjet printers are not the fastest printers on the market, but they have improved over time. When choosing a printer for high volume printing, you must make an educated decision by comparing different printers. The following steps will help you choose an inkjet printer for high volume printing.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit a local electronic store to view the different printers on display. Often the stores will have friendly, knowledgeable staff to help guide you through the purchasing process.

  2. Step 2

Look at the speed features of the printer. This is known as ppm or pages printed per minute.

  3. Step 3

Compare the pages per minute, and choose the highest one that is within your budget. Be sure to consider any other features the printer may have.

  4. Step 4

Purchase the printer you have selected from an online retailer, a local discount store or an electronics store.

Tips & Warnings
  • Printers often have different pages printed per minute for color and for black and white papers. Be sure to look at the same ones when comparing different printers.
  • If the inkjet printers still do not print fast enough, look into purchasing a LaserJet printer.
  • If two printers have the same pages printed per minute and the same price, compare the other features when making your decision.
  • Check out the manufacturer in a consumer magazine to see if the printer has a high reliability rate.
  • Compare how much the different ink cartridges can cost. Some printers are inexpensive, but the cartridges are extremely expensive.
