An ezine or "email newsletter" is a great way to stay in contact with staff and customers and also a way to bring more business or visitors to your Web site or company. An ezine should be delivered regularly and contain some information of use to the members who are on the ezine (mailing) list. A nice addition to an ezine is to include fresh content, such as articles pertaining to your business or Web site. By using Google Groups, you can easily search for articles you can include in your ezine. Simply follow the steps below and before you know it, you will have a wealth of articles available to use in your ezine.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    First go to Google online.

  2. Step 2

On the main page, you will see Web, Images, Video, News, Maps, and more (just above the search box).

  3. Step 3

Click on "More" and a small box will open. Click on "Groups" there.

  4. Step 4

There will be two search boxes on the new page.

  5. Step 5

In the second search box labeled "Find a group," type in something like "Free content," "Free articles," or "Articles to republish."

  6. Step 6

On the results page you will see several different groups listed.

  7. Step 7

You will need to read the descriptions of the different groups to find exactly what you are looking for, which is articles you can use.

  8. Step 8

You can right click on the title of the group and that group's homepage will open in a new window so you can read more about the group, see how many members are in the group, and how many articles are available.

  9. Step 9

On the homepages, you will most likely see one of the following three statements:
    * You cannot view or post messages because you are not currently a member. Anyone can join.
    * This group is announcement-only. You cannot post messages because you are not a manager.
    * You cannot post messages because only members can post, and you are not currently a member.

  10. Step 10

The last one is what you are looking for, as this means you can read and republish the articles posted without being a member of the group.

  11. Step 11

Once you find a group that offers articles, you can search that group for articles specifically suited for your ezine where it says "Search this group."

Tips & Warnings
  • If you would like to be notified by email when new articles are posted on a group you might want to consider joining that group.
  • Larger numbers mean larger selection of articles for your ezine so look for more members and more articles if possible.
  • Always read the requirements for using their article. It might be just including a byline, agreeing not to change any part of the article or agreeing to link back to a certain Web site.
