Things You'll Need:
- Keyboard
- Batteries
- Computer
- USB port
-
Step 1
Ensure that your wireless keyboard is compatible with your laptop. Whether your keyboard uses Bluetooth technology or 802.11b, the laptop has to support the same technology.
-
Step 2
Unpack your keyboard and open its battery compartment. Since it is a wireless keyboard, it won’t receive any power from the laptop, making batteries a necessity.
-
Step 3
Add new batteries to the compartment. While doing so, make sure that the positive side of the battery is inserted into the positive niche in the compartment.
-
Step 4
Place the keyboard in a way that makes it easy for you to use and less stressful for your fingers.
-
Step 5
Use a wireless receiver if your laptop doesn’t support wireless technology (either Bluetooth or 802.11b). It should be kept at least eight inches away from the laptop or any other object that would cause any interference. Ideally it should be placed within eight inches to six feet from the keyboard.
-
Step 6
Insert the CD with the required drivers and follow the instructions to install the software for setting up the keyboard.
-
Step 7
Connect your receiver to the laptop by plugging in the keyboard’s USB connector to the USB port of the laptop. If you do not have any free USB port, simply use an external USB hub for more ports.
