Have you ever noticed when guests dress up, they step outside of themselves to mingle and flirt just a little bit more than they would if they were dressed as their “everyday selves?” Since your goal as a host is to promote more extroverted behavior, include a wardrobe station and coax your guests' alter egos to come out and play!

Step1

Rummage through your closet for old costumes and visit resale stores for wild hats and accessories to create a collection of “New Year's Eve” wardrobe essentials in which guests can masquerade. Think masks, wigs, crazy sunglasses, bunny ears, devil horns, hats, feather boas, colored fake eyelashes, etc.

Step2

Display them on a large tray or table and invite guests to peruse the collection prior to the midnight madness.

Step3

Display masks, wigs and hats on styrofoam heads (the kind you find at beauty supply houses), pillar candle holders or statues.
