Since the last few years, a USB mouse has become very popular. However, if you have a computer or a laptop with only a PS/2 port, you can still use a USB mouse with it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Buy a reliable USB to PS/2 adapter. Search online, browse through Web sites of major retailers such as BestBuy and CompUSA (see links below) or research buyers’ guides such as MySimon (see link below) to get more information about features and pricing of various USB to PS/2 adapters.
Step2
Install the driver software from the installation CD (comes with the adapter). Some adapters don’t need any software to be installed.
Step3
Connect the USB connector of the mouse to the adapter.
Step4
Connect the adapter to the PS/2 port at the back of your CPU. You are ready to use the USB mouse.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some adapters may require you to run optimizing software, especially if you want to connect the USB mouse to an Apple Macintosh with a PS/2 port.
