When you use a laptop computer for long hours, its small in-built keyboard tends to make typing difficult and uncomfortable. In this situation, you can attach a larger external keyboard to your laptop. Here’s how:

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Determine the type of port your laptop has. Most old laptops have a round port, called a PS/2. Most new models carry a USB port.
Step2
Buy a keyboard that is compatible with your laptop's port.
Step3
Connect your PS/2 keyboard to the PS/2 port. Alternatively, connect your USB keyboard to the USB port. Configure the device using the setup wizard.
Step4
You also might consider connecting a wireless keyboard. Be sure your laptop and the wireless keyboard are compatible. Insert batteries into the wireless keyboard, connect the wireless receiver to your computer and install the software.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your operating system doesn’t have a setup wizard, go to "Start Menu>Settings>Control Panel." Click on "Add Hardware" and follow the instructions.
