Things You'll Need:
- a drink you have invented
- a name for the drink you have invented
- friends
- bars to market your drink
-
Step 1
First, invent a holiday cocktail. If you're reading this article, perhaps you have already created an original drink. If not, go to your bar, invent a drink, then proceed to step 2.
-
Step 2
Create a name for your drink. Name your drink using two words. You want one word to be related to the holidays. For the second word, use your last name if it is simple enough to be understood in a loud bar. If not, create a catchy, easy-to-understand name for your drink. You want people to be able to hear the name of you drink easily in a crowded bar. For example, if your last name is Nelson, name your drink "The Christmas Nelson".
-
Step 3
Choose a bar. This will be your first target. Your first bar should be a small, local dig that you go to often with your friends. Make sure the bar has all the ingredients that go into your drink.
-
Step 4
Gather your friends together on a Friday night. Make sure they all know how to make the drink. They must be familiar with the name and the ingredients.
-
Step 5
Go to the bar with your friends.
-
Step 6
First, wait for a quiet moment and approach the bar tender. Say, "Do you serve [insert name of your drink here]?" When he says no, tell him that you had this awesome drink at another bar and you were wondering if he could make it for you. Sweet talk the bar tender until he agrees to make the drink. Tell him the ingredients and continue to talk about other bars that serve this drink. Thank him profusely and suggest that he try it himself.
-
Step 7
Wait for another quiet moment and send one of your friends to the bar. Your friend should say something like this: "Wow, I just tried my friends drink, the Christmas Nelson, can you make me one too?" Have your friend sweet-talk the bartender until he agrees to make one. Have her gush about how great the drink tasted.
-
Step 8
Repeat with another friend. Repeat as many times as possible. Suggest that the bar tender add the drink to the menu.
-
Step 9
Return to the bar within a week or two. Repeat the process again. Hopefully by now the bar tender has added your drink to the menu.
-
Step 10
Select another bar. Repeat the process
-
Step 11
Get more friends involved. Get your friends to ask for the drink even when you are not around.
