The easiest way to check what you're recording on a camcorder is by using the LCD monitor. The LCD monitor will give you a more accurate picture than the eyepiece. Using the LCD monitor on your camcorder is easy. Follow these steps to learn how to record using the LCD monitor on a camcorder.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Camcorder

Step1
Turn your camcorder on by pressing the "Power" button.
Step2
Flip out the LCD screen. This should be located on one of the sides of your camcorder. To flip the LCD monitor out, you will need to either push or slide the latch holding it in place.
Step3
Make sure there is an image on your LCD monitor. If there is an image, your LCD monitor is working properly. If the monitor is blank, try closing and reopening it, and make sure you've taken off the lens cap.
Step4
Point the camera at the object you want to record and find it on the monitor. Reframe as needed, and make sure the object is in focus.
Step5
Press record and keep your subject in view on the monitor.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful when opening and closing your LCD monitor.
  • Do not apply direct pressure to the LCD monitor. It is fragile and could crack.
