Are you looking for the perfect job that promises growth as well as a sizeable paycheck? Each person defines his or her own "perfect job" based on factors such as job profile, location, company image and pay package. Finding the perfect job requires considerable research. However, the Internet makes it easier for you to find your dream job. Here’s how.

From Quick Guide: Prepare for Interview Success
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Assess your requirements and expectations. Have a clear expectation in terms of job profile, company, industry, location and pay package. This will make your job-search process easier.

  2. Step 2

Browse through discussion forums and groups such as Yahoo! Groups, Yahoo! Discussion Forums and Google Groups. Many companies advertise their requirements on relevant groups and discussion forums. For instance, if you are looking at consulting positions, join a forum related to consulting jobs or consulting job seekers. Networking is one of the best ways to find your ideal job. Such discussion forums offer inside information on companies and their openings, thereby allowing you to make informed decisions.

  3. Step 3

Connect to networking portals such as MySpace and LinkedIn. Like groups and discussion forums, these are a good way to find out about jobs and openings from other members.

  4. Step 4

Sign up and browse through some of the most popular job portals such as Monster, Dice, Yahoo! HotJobs and CareerBuilder (see links below). All these sites list hundreds of jobs.

  5. Step 5

Search in other job portals such as CraigsList, CareerJournal, Indeed and JobCentral (see links below) that provide job listings in various categories.

  6. Step 6

Go online and search in Google or Yahoo. Insert your ideal job type in the search box of these popular search engines. You will come across a number of Web sites of companies as well as job portals that display jobs in the category you want. Search the sites that interest you.

  7. Step 7

Look at Web sites of top companies in your desired area of work. Current opportunities are usually advertised on a company’s Web site.

Tips & Warnings
  • Get all relevant information about your job profile. Such information is usually mentioned in the job posting that you may have responded to. For instance, if you applied through a job portal, the company and job profile will be mentioned.
