How to Find a New Job Online

The Internet has rewritten the rules of job searching and offers many options for finding a new job. Here’s how to find a new job online.

Instructions

1. Determine the kind of new job you want. Assess your strengths and preferred job location. Have a clear goal.

2. Sign up and browse through some of the most popular job portals, such as Monster, Dice, Yahoo! HotJobs and CareerBuilder (see links below). These sites list hundreds of jobs.

3. Search other job portals such as CraigsList, CareerJournal, Indeed and JobCentral (see links below) that provide job listings in various categories.

4. Go online to Google or Yahoo! and insert your job type in the search box of these popular search engines. You will come across a number of Web sites of companies and job portals that display jobs in the category you entered. Select the Web sites that best suit you.

5. Browse through discussion forums and groups, such as Yahoo! Groups, Yahoo! Discussion Forums and Google Groups. Many companies advertise their requirements on relevant groups and discussion forums. For instance, if you are looking for technology jobs, join a forum related to technology jobs or technology job seekers.

6. Connect to networking portals such as My Space and LinkedIn. Like online groups and discussion forums, these are good places to find out about jobs and openings from other members.
