Instructions

Step 1

Pick a song. Choose one that is in your singing range and that you know she loves.
Step 2

Determine if you want to play along with the song using a guitar, banjo or other mobile musical instrument.
Step 3

Practice when you are alone or in the shower. You want to surprise her with a great song, not an off-key rendition.
Step 4

Select a location for your serenade. Stay away from noisy and high-traffic areas. Decide if you think it will be more romantic with or without an audience.
Step 5

Choose your time. A small birthday party or anniversary is a good time, or right before bed you can sing toward her open window.
Step 6

Let your heart overflow and serenade your girlfriend. Even if you aren’t a good singer, the thought will make her think you are Barry Manilow.

Tips & Warnings

Nothing beats knowing your girlfriend’s favorite romantic song. Ask family and friends, or bribe roommates.
If her song is an instrumental, learn how to play the guitar and go for it.
Hunt up romantic songs on the Web if you can’t think of anything to sing.
If you really can’t sing, pull a Cusak and blast her favorite romantic song from a portable music player.
Just because you like a song doesn’t mean she likes it.
