Valentine’s Day is all about love, so why should one of the things you love most—sports!—go overlooked? By putting your heart into it, you can make the special day more sporting than ever.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Send your spouse or significant other a fantastic flower arrangement. Make it almost as nice as the one you send to your beloved Green Pay Packers.
Step2
Instead of getting your sweetheart the tired-old ‘heart-shaped’ box of chocolates use a little elbow grease (and a hacksaw) to turn it into a football-shaped box. Then paint it the colors of your favorite NFL team. Then eat the chocolates.
Step3
Skip the fancy ‘wining and dining’ and take your honey to an NBA game. You’ll be able to afford a better seat if you can get them to wait in the car!
Step4
Considering getting your girlfriend or wife some fancy jewelry? Newsflash: you can buy her an authentic NFL cheerleader outfit in your favorite team’s colors for the same price or even less.
Step5
If proposing is on your mind for this romantic holiday, go the extra mile and have the engagement ring done in the style of a Super Bowl ring. You’ll immediately find out just how compatible the two of you are!
Step6
Dress up like Cupid, complete with bow and arrow, at a basketball or hockey game. Shoot the refs with your quills if your team isn’t getting the calls.
Step7
Try not to forget the real meaning of the day—a tribute to ex-hoopster Darnell Valentine and former MLB’er Ellis Valentine.

Tips & Warnings

  • For the homebody, a home-cooked meal, soft lighting and some mood music will set the perfect tone—for the NBA doubleheader on television!
