Adding background music to your Web page is a powerful effect that can leave a lasting impression on your visitors. It will set your Web site apart and generate potential return visitors.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Web page
  • Audio file

Step1
Log onto your GeoCities' account at Yahoo!
Step2
Launch PageBuilder and upload the music file to your file manager.
Step3
Open the Web page on which you want to have background music.
Step4
Click on the Add-Ons button at the top of the page.
Step5
Click Background Music.
Step6
Click the Choose button and a pop-up window should appear.
Step7
Select the file you want to use for your background music. Click OK.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your file name may not appear immediately in your pop-up window. Give the Web site 10 minutes or so to refresh.
  • You have the option of looping the files so the music plays continuously.
  • Use MID or MIDI files instead of WAV files. WAV files are large and can slow loading, thereby decreasing Web page traffic.
  • Always preview your Web page before logging off to make sure your page is as you want it to be.
  • You can only use MID, MIDI or WAV files for background music.
