Know Your Destination

1. Enjoy the tropical marine climate of Grand Cayman Island. From May until October, you can expect warm, rainy days. You can expect dry weather with average temperatures in the mid 70s from late November until May.
2. Recognize that Christianity is the main religion on Grand Cayman Island. Ports are closed on Sundays and religious holidays.
3. Know that citizens of the United States do not need visas or passports to visit the island; proof of citizenship is required, however. Citizens of other countries may need visas and passports to enter.
4. Forget the phrasebook. English is the official language on Grand Cayman Island.
5. Recognize that the official currency is the Cayman Island dollar. The United States dollar is also widely accepted.

Organize Transportation

6. Arrive by air using the Owen Roberts International Airport. A variety of commercial airlines offer flights to this airport.
7. Opt to arrive via cruise ship. Offering close proximity to the island's downtown area, George Town Harbor is the preferred docking location for cruise ships.
8. Get around the island using a rental car; they are in plentiful supply on the island. Mopeds and scooter rentals are available as well.
