Things You'll Need:
- A computer with Internet access in order to book reservations online
- A valid passport from your nation of origin
-
Step 1
Know that Bristol is the largest port in England. More tonnage moves through Bristol than through other port cities in England like Portsmouth, Southampton and Dover.
-
Step 2
Learn about the weather conditions in Bristol before you come. While the weather in Bristol and England as a whole is relatively moderate, there are still days, particularly during winter months, where fog and rain can dampen your plans.
-
Step 1
Fly into Bristol International Airport for the fewest travel headaches. The airport serves most major European cities and has daily flights to other points in England but, interestingly enough, not to London.
-
Step 2
Use the Tube (England's underground mass transit system) for the quickest way between two points. The subways are clean and safe and run on regular schedules. Fares are cheap, too.
-
Step 3
Fly into Heathrow Airport, and then take the train from London. Costs for train fare depend on the time of year (fares spike a bit during summer months), but are always relatively cheap.
-
Step 1
To book accommodations, contact Bristol Tourist Information Centre at 011 (+44) 870 444 0654 or visit their Web site (see Resources below).
-
Step 2
Find cheap accommodations in youth hostels which operate throughout Bristol and England at large. People who don't mind "roughing it" can find a cozy mattress for well under $100 a night.
-
Step 3
Consider a hotel with easy access to the harbor as you'll want to take time to see one of the oldest and most important ports in England. There are plenty of sights along the shore for tourists.
-
Step 4
Find cheap accommodations in some of the city's mid-range hotels. Competitive rates are common, and the quality of the rooms and amenities continues to improve. Even 4-star accommodations can be had for less than $200 a night.
