Know Your Destination

Step1
Get a thrill at the Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Museum of Natural History in Sioux Falls, a 45-acre park housing more than 500 animals in natural habitat exhibits. Check out the Bear Canyon, Asian Cat Habitat and the new African Savannah. There is also an interactive children's zoo onsite.
Step2
Immerse yourself in the Wild Water West Waterpark, located just outside of Sioux Falls. Thrill seekers will love the 6-story flume and the daring Black Hole slide. The Caribbean Falls section is for all ages, with net crawls, rope bridges and a 1,000-gallon water bucket that spills on everyone below every 5 minutes. In addition to wild and wet rides, you'll find batting cages, go-carts, bumper boats and a miniature golf course.
Step3
Bring your camera to the Sertoma Butterfly House, where you can observe hundreds of beautifully colored butterflies among the abundant foliage.
Step4
Step back in time at the Old Courthouse Museum, a restored 3-story, quartzite building featuring a clock tower that dates back to the 1800s. Tour history exhibits, a law library, a ballroom and the gift shop, which offers unique South Dakota-themed collectibles.

Stay near the Empire Mall, the largest shopping outlet in South Dakota, featuring 180 retail stores and restaurants; the mall is within walking distance of many Sioux Falls' hotels.
