Expect a blend of cultures. After the first Iraqi War, Kuwait City was heavily modernized and became a tourist and business hub of the Middle East. However, Muslim values still dominate the culture.

Take the opportunity to enjoy hearing numerous foreign languages. Kuwaitis speak Arabic, as well Tagalog, English and Farsi.

Expect to spend money. As a growing tourist destination, flights to Kuwait City are not cheap.

Figure out how best to get from the airport to your hotel. The airport is approximately a ten-minute drive from the city center. Taxis are safe but may be expensive. Busses or rental cars are other options.

Ask whether your hotel offers an airport shuttle, as this is standard among many of the hotels of the area.
Find Accommodations

Expect modern accommodations. Many new hotels were built after the war.

Stay near shopping. Salmiya is the shopping district and many quality hotels are located nearby.

Consider resort accommodations. Although pricey, these spots on the strips of sand make your vacation a treat.

Look for inexpensive options in the commercial and financial districts. Family-run hotels are your best bet.
Learn Local Information
Step1
Make a stop at the city's main landmark. The Kuwait Towers are the things to see if you don't see anything else.

Support redevelopment of the country. Visit the museums even though they have been looted recently.
Step3
Immerse yourself in religion. The Muslim religion is an important part of the culture of the city. Visit the mosques of the area, especially the Grande Mosque, to better understand this part of your travels.
Step4
See the exciting financial transactions taking place at the Kuwait Stock Exchange which is open to the public.
