Rochester, also known as the "Flour City" and the "Flower City," is a hip travel destination in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York State. Civil rights leaders like Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass once called Rochester home. When visiting Rochester, be sure to check out unusual attractions like the Great, Great House of Guitars and Whispering Pines, the oldest miniature golf course in New York, dating back to 1929.

Things You'll Need:

    Know Your Destination

  1. Step 1

Don't miss popular points of interest such as Casa Larga Vineyards, Seneca Park Zoo and the Susan B. Anthony House.

  2. Step 2

Explore attractions off the beaten path such as the LeRoy House, featuring the history of Jello, or the Legal Wall behind the Village Gate where local graffiti artists display their work.

  3. Step 3

Roam other Finger Lakes areas for historical sites, state parks, day hikes, wineries and shopping opportunities.

  4. Step 4

Take the kids to the Strong Museum, the second largest children's museum in America.

  5. Step 5

View the High Falls waterfall that runs through the middle of downtown, and take in the sights in the district of the same name. The High Falls district features trendy brewpubs, theaters and nightclubs.
