They say that relationships have a honeymoon period, the time when everything is new and fresh in a relationship. Then, all of the sudden, that period passes and you are left with a person you love and know well. One of the keys to prolonging the period of discovery in your relationship is to keep the romance in your life. This is a simple task, but takes work and dedication. Follow these steps to keep the romance in your relationship.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Candles
  • Flowers
  • Candy
  • Music
  1. Step 1

Don’t sweat the small stuff. If your partner does something that mildly annoys you, don’t feel the need to let him/her know every time.

  2. Step 2

Keep the lines of communication wide open. Many problems in a relationship can be traced back to a breakdown in communication. Be honest and open with one another.

  3. Step 3

Remember what you did to make her or her fall in love with you in the first place. Try to be the same sweet person you were when you started dating.

  4. Step 4

Be spontaneous. Everyone loves surprises. Try to incorporate off-the-wall and fun things into your daily life.

  5. Step 5

Take time for the two of you. Set a night each week for a date, even if it's just renting a movie and getting a pizza. You need to have quality time together.

  6. Step 6

Get away. Take a vacation. Or at the very least, stay overnight in a nice local hotel and act like you are away.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be a giver. Clean up around the house and start to genuinely care about what he or she has to say.
  • Know your own faults and try to improve on them.
  • Remember special occasions and make new ones. Every day can be special when you are in a relationship.
  • Don’t take your relationship for granted.
