Cook a Romantic Dinner for Two

A great way to spend Valentine’s Day or any special occasion with your partner is to plan a romantic dinner. Preparing a meal for your special person, with all the right accents, can be more meaningful than going to an expensive restaurant. Learn here how to cook a romantic dinner for two.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Clean your apartment or house. Clutter may be fine when you are by yourself, but it quickly cuts into the romance factor when you are trying to impress.

  2. Step 2

Know your partner's likes and dislikes. Carnivore or vegetarian? Food allergies? These are important considerations as you plan your menu.

  3. Step 3

Find recipes online or in cookbooks. When you know what is on the menu, make a list of all the ingredients you'll need to make it. Also, check your cooking equipment--do you have the right materials?

  4. Step 4

Do your food shopping for all those ingredients you do not have on hand. Make sure you bring your shopping list! (Adding a few candles and flowers to the list will help your romantic setting.)

  5. Step 5

Organize your ingredients and cooking materials. When you are done preparing something, get the mixing bowl or pot or pan out of the way to avoid a cluttered workspace.

  6. Step 6

Closely follow the recipes you chose. This is not the time to improvise.

  7. Step 7

As your dinner is cooking, set the table and arrange your dining space for maximum romantic effect.

  8. Step 8

Change into your romantic dinner outfit, and have a great evening!

Tips & Warnings
  • Romantic meals are all about presentation. Adjust the lighting to dim (candles help), choose music in advance and look your sexiest.
  • When planning the dinner, make notes on cooking times to know in advance the time the food will be on the table.
  • Ask a wine seller to suggest the perfect wine to accompany your meal.
  • Don’t overdo it. If you have limited cooking experience, make something simple or buy food that you can reheat.
  • Multi-course meals require multi-trips to the kitchen, which means loss of romance time.

on 11/24/2009 Pay attention, Gentlemen,

This is great advice. Ladies like men who cook. I've tested it, and it works.
