Step 1
Educate yourself and your family. This will help you all better understand what your spouse is experiencing and give you some insight into how this disorder is affecting them.
-
Step 2
Find a counselor. Sometimes you may need outside help to cope with your spouse during this difficult time.
-
Step 3
Create a safe environment for your spouse. This will help them feel that they can express themselves comfortably.
-
Step 4
Be open and honest about your feelings. Everyone in your family should feel free to talk to one another about the situation and share how they feel.
-
Step 5
Support your spouse. Accompany them to medical appointments or therapy sessions. Make sure that they know you are there for them and love them.
-
Step 6
Help monitor your spouse's medication. This will help them with the treatment of the disorder. This way you can both be sure every precaution is being taken.
