How to Use an RSS Feed for a Podcast

RSS is the abbreviation for Really Simple Syndication. It is XML based and allows content to be accessed automatically by a user's RSS reader. You can add RSS feeds to your podcast following these simple steps.

  1. Step 1

    Create a podcast. Record, edit and convert the file to mp3.

  2. Step 2

    Publish the mp3 file to your Web server and test it to make sure that it works.

  3. Step 3

    Create your RSS news feed to describe your podcast and post show information.

  4. Step 4

    Create an enclosure tag for each podcast feed. It should look something like this: .

  5. Step 5

    Use an online RSS validator to make sure that you've coded your enclosure correctly.

  6. Step 6

    Publish your podcast news feed.

  • Online software programs make adding RSS feeds much easier.
  • Some podcasting software automatically includes RSS feed publication. To simplify adding RSS to your podcasts, consider purchasing WebPod Studio or a similar program.
  • Most blogging programs have links that make it easy to add syndication to your podcasts.
