Step 1
Decide what you hope to accomplish with your podcast: Do you want a new way to communicate with friends, share hobbies or give advice? Or do you want your podcast to be business related—a way of bringing in new customers or encouraging additional sales to customers you already have?
-
Step 2
Look at the market for your podcast: How many people do you hope to reach? How much competition will you have?
-
Step 3
Take stock of your hobbies and interests: What do you like talking about? What job would you take on even if you wouldn't get paid for doing it? What do your friends always come to you for advice about?
-
Step 4
Look at the lists (what you hope to accomplish, who you're hoping to reach and your hobbies and interests) to determine where there is an overlap. Narrow down your possible topics based on which ideas will help you reach the most goals.
-
Step 5
Consider each of the topics on your narrowed-down list: Which will best help you reach your goals? Which topics do you have the most to say about?
-
Step 6
Decide on a topic for your podcast.
