Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Both you and your friend will need Yahoo Messenger version 8.0.0.589 or higher to share photos via Messenger.

Add People to Your Friends List

  1. Step 1

Click “Add Friends” on the Yahoo Photos home page.

  2. Step 2

Add people to your Friends list by entering their Yahoo ID screen names into the search field. If you are adding more than one, separate each name with a comma.

  3. Step 3

    Click “Add” when you’re finished.

  4. Share Photos With Friends via Email

  5. Step 1

Click an album name in your list. (You cannot share Smart Albums in this way.)

  6. Step 2

Click “Share” on the taskbar, then select “Album” to share the entire album. Or you can share individual photos by dragging and droping them into the photo tray, then click “Share."

  7. Step 3

    Click “Share by Email."

  8. Step 4

Add an email address in the “To” field. To add a personal message, enter it into the field labeled “Enter optional message here."

  9. Step 5

    Click “Send."

  10. Share Photos With Friends via Yahoo Messenger

  11. Step 1

Click on an album you want to share in the collections list.

  12. Step 2

Click “Edit” in the taskbar. Choose “Album” then click “Instant Message."

  13. Step 3

Select a friend to share your album with from the friends list when the Messenger window opens.

  14. Step 4

Both you and your friend will be able to view the album slideshow in the Messenger window. You will also both be able to stop and start the slideshow as well as click on thumbnails in the Messenger window to see a larger version of the photo.

  15. Share Photos by Changing Permissions

  16. Step 1

Click on an album name in your list, or drag individual photos into the photo tray.

  17. Step 2

Click “Share” on the taskbar. Select “Albums” and then “Permissions."

  18. Step 3

Change your permissions to "Public," then click “Save."

Tips & Warnings
  • You can share photos from multiple albums, as well as the “All My Photos” collection. The photo tray will retain the photos you’ve selected as you move between albums.
  • People who share photos with you are automatically added to your friends list. If you share photos with someone, you’ll be added automatically to theirs.
  • By adding people to your Friends list, you allow them permanent access to your public photos and albums when you send them an email invitation to view them. (If they’re not on your Friends list, their access expires after 90 days). They also have permanent access to the album you invited them to see, even if it's labeled "Private."
  • If the person you contact forwards your email invitation to anyone, that new person can view the photos too, even if they’re labeled "Private."
  • Note that changing permissions means anyone can view your photos, not just the people on your Friends list.
