Tips & Warnings
  • Newly-uploaded photos and newly-created albums are "private" by default.
  • Making photos or albums "public" is the easiest way to share them if you don’t want to send out multiple email invitations, or if you’re not worried about privacy.
  • You can’t make Smart Albums or the “All My Photos” collection "public," but you can make individual photos in them "public."
  • Click the “Settings” button on the Yahoo Photos home page to determine what people can do with the photos you share. The default setting allows them to add comments and order prints. You can also give viewers the ability to add tags, although this isn’t recommended. That could interfere with the way you’ve organized your photos. These options can’t be changed for individual photos or albums—they apply to all your photos.
  • An easy way to check the permissions of all your albums is to click “My Albums” in your collections list. Check the icon in the lower right corner of each album. A gold figure means it’s "private." A green globe means it's "public."
  • Another way to check which photos and albums are "public" is to sign out of Yahoo Photos then go to the web addresses listed below. From here, you’ll see what anyone else does when they visit your page.
  • Your public albums are viewable at http://new.photos.yahoo.com/YourYahooID/albums.
  • Your public photos are viewable at http://new.photos.yahoo.com/YourYahooID.
  • "Public" albums and photos are viewable by anyone who sees your Yahoo Photos web pages. If you don’t want strangers to see your photos, make them private and share them using email invitations or Yahoo Instant Messenger.
