Telecommuting is increasingly becoming a popular mode of working in the United States. Many people prefer working at home rather than traveling to their workplace each day. For those who cannot find work that suits their skills locally, telecommuting is the best option. Here’s how you can find a telecommuting job online:

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Go online and insert keywords "work at home", "telecommuting jobs" or "telecommute jobs" in Google or Yahoo. You will come across companies or Web sites that provide information on telecommuting opportunities.

  2. Step 2

Search for job portals. There are portals especially for telecommuting jobs, such as freetelecommutingjobs.com. Craigslist is another popular portal for searching telecommuting jobs in all states of the U.S. as well as other countries. Craigslist gives you the option of searching only for telecommuting jobs. See Web site links, below.

  3. Step 3

Explore Web sites of some recruitment agencies. These sites also help in finding a telecommuting job. You can search for "recruitment agencies" in Google and Yahoo.

  4. Step 4

Find some online newsletters. There are “work at home” and “telecommuting” newsletters that are available free. For instance, you can log on to The Telecommuting Answer Lady (see link, below). All you have to do is to register your name and you'll get the newsletters regularly.

  5. Step 5

Use networking sites such as LinkedIn, MySpace or Yahoo job forums to form a network of like-minded people. The more people you network with, the higher are the chances of you getting to know about telecommuting jobs in various companies.

Tips & Warnings
  • Initially try an assortment of keywords like "work at home", "work from home", "telecommuter", "telecommute", "must have home office" and "remote contractor" for gaining access to as many vacancies as possible.
  • Not all telecommuting jobs are legitimate. Verify the details of the company to avoid being cheated.

on 4/17/2009 Good information. There is a free ebook called Work-At-Home Job Finder For Moms on http://www.HomeWorkingMom.com. There is a whole section about telecommuting in the free ebook and on the website.
