Technology has become an integral part of everyone's life. Technology is one of the most prominent sectors in the United States, with some of the biggest firms involved in hiring thousands of IT professionals every year. The best way to find technology jobs is by researching on the Internet. Here's how:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Go to popular search engines such as Yahoo!, Google or AOL and search for technology organizations, IT organizations, IT jobs and similar keywords. The search engines show several listings. Thoroughly explore all results listed on at least the first results page, which typically shows links best matching the search criteria.

  2. Step 2

Browse through each search engine's own job portals sections that are dedicated to technology jobs. These offer a better chance of coming across more employers. Use their discussion forums to network and know related information. Yahoo! supports many groups which are technology-job related. Becoming a member of such groups exposes you to the latest trends, events and opportunities in information technology.

  3. Step 3

Go to an online technology job board such as monster.com, Yahoo's hotjobs.com or dice.com (see below). Key in your technical skills or the job designation you seek in the search box. For example, enter "C++, Java" or "Senior Software Engineer" in the box. Press "Enter" or the "Go" button to view the job listings. Click on the job links that interest you and read the complete job profile.

  4. Step 4

Check out openings at the staffing Web sites or the career pages of prominent technology companies. You will be able to view a number of technology job opportunities. For example, you may visit Microsoft's Web site (see below). As mentioned, Googling technology companies or organizations will yield several technology companies. Visit their Web sites and look for relevant jobs.

  5. Step 5

Browse through technology portals such as ZDNet and CNET. These sites usually come up with their listing of the best technology firms to work with. See if these companies are hiring. Browse through the Web sites of "Forbes" and "Newsweek". Technology firms often advertise on these sites. Besides, they have their own listing of Top 50 or Top 100 technology firms.

  6. Step 6

Use networking sites such as LinkedIn, MySpace or Yahoo Technical forums to form a network of like-minded people. The more people you network with, the higher are the chances of you getting to know about technology openings in various companies.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to give broad search criteria to maximize your search results.
  • Keep a track of companies you have already visited online so that you can narrow down the search to the most suitable.
