Yes, it can happen! Your Sims can meet with extraterrestrial life. Odd things can come of it, especially for male Sims. It is strange to be sure, but it can be fun. It is a rare occurrenc,e as one might expect, but it is hilarious if you catch the alien in the act!

Make a Sim or create a new one. A Sim with the Knowledge aspiration helps, because they are the only ones who might want to be abducted. If you have the University expansion, a Sim with the Paranormal major would also be interested.

Buy your Sim a telescope. It doesn't have to be an expensive one, just one that works.

Set it in the Sim's backyard.

Have the Sim stargaze between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Keep having the Sim stargaze until a beam of light appears...

Tips & Warnings
Getting abducted is a very rare occurrence. Sims can spend days stargazing and see nothing. Keep trying!
Be aware that getting abducted can seriously mess with your Sim's mood bars. They may leave with a full stomach and plenty of energy, but return with no energy and a full bladder. You may want to have some snacks, a bed and a bathroom on standby just in case.
Alien encounters can have unforeseen effects on families. If you do not wish to have a change in your family structure, do not attempt to get abducted.

Every post I've seen so far has said something about using the "Debug-Get Abducted" cheat to get abducted, but it doesn't work for me. When I select it, my Sim walks up to the telescope like they are going to stargaze, but they just back up again while thinking about stars. Also, I was playing the Curious household (the one with the pregnant guy) and I made one of them stargaze on the telescope and he got abducted in less than an hour (Sim time). But when I make another guy stargaze, nothing happens. He has been stargazing every night for a while now, and I'm getting frustrated. I know about the Tombstone of L and D, but I'm bored of using that method. What can I do? And if anyone has any tips or advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, you need a expensive telescope to get abducted. And if a male sim is abducted, they become pregnant with an alien. (p.s. skill level may have nothing to do with it. the more time you spend looking through the telescope the higher the chance.)

And the Freetime expansion adds the "summon aliens" interaction to your telescope as the top tier knowledge aspiration reward. This basically guarantees abduction after only a few sim hours of telescope use.
