How to Listen to Music from The Sims 2

Do you enjoy the music your Sims get to hear? Wish you could listen to it while you're not playing the game? So do we! Sure it's all gibberish, but you have to admit, there are some catchy tunes in there. Enjoying them on your MP3 player is easy and only takes a few minutes.

    Instructions

      • 1

Open up your local hard drive.

      • 2

Open up the Program Files or Applications folder, then look for the EA GAMES folder and open it. Inside you will find a folder labeled The Sims 2, and possibly some others if you have expansion packs installed.

      • 3

Open up whichever folder you like (The basic Sims 2 has the most music) and open up the TSData folder.

      • 4

Open up the Res folder, then look for the Sound folder.

      • 5

Poke around in the Sound folder. There should be a bunch of .package files. Find the ones you want (for example, Techno.package, Pop.package, Metal.package) and copy them.

      • 6

Place them into whichever folder you store your music files.

      • 7

Rename the files (For PC, right-click the .package files and select Rename. For Mac, highlight the file name.)

      • 8

Change the extensions of the files from .Package to .mp3.

      • 9

Your music files should now be playable in an MP3 player program. Enjoy!

    Tips & Warnings

    • Be aware the packages you have just made into music files contain all the music from a particular music station. In order to separate the songs into individual tracks, you will need an MP3 editor. Some free ones can be found online via search engines.

I tried this method as well as any others that I could think of, and still wasn't able to get the music. ]: When I go into the folder you suggested, all the files are there, but they are named without the ".Package" extension. For example, I have "Build" - there's no file extension. If I copy and paste the file elsewhere and then add the ".mp3" extension, it does nothing but add ".mp3" to the end of the file name. I am still left with a .Package file. Any idea how to solve this? :3
