How to Start a Page in Wikipedia
Anyone can contribute to Wikipedia. That's what distinguishes this encyclopedia from other online information sources. Once you open an account, you can contest or comment on an entry already written. You can also create a new one. Follow these steps to join a Wikipedia and join the discussion.

Open an Account in Wikipedia

Go to Wikipedia's main page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page. You can also key in Wikipedia in any search engine.

Go to the top-right corner of the page. Click on "Create Account." Register by providing a username and a unique password. The account is created immediately. Your username will appear in red at the top of the page.

Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Starting_a_new_page. From here, you can create a new page.

Type the headline of the article you want to start in the "Type a Title" box.

Click on the "Create Page" button below the box. This will direct you to the edit page.

Write an article in the blank space. Remember, that blank space is there only because nothing yet has been written on your subject.

Provide an "Edit Summary" so readers will know why your subject should be included.

See the changes by clicking "Preview," then save.

Click the red link in the article to take you to the edit mode.

Write the article in the space provided and save the page.

Identify the subject you want to explain.

Enter the subject in the search box.

Click on either "Go" or "Enter." If there's already an article on the subject, you'll have direct access to it.

Press "Create a New Article" if your search doesn't produce any articles.

Write the text in the blank space.

Click on "Show Preview" to see the article. Save it when you're done.
