How to Display an Image in a Wikipedia Article
Want to add an image to any Wikipedia article? You can upload one to Wikipedia Commons so it can be used everywhere in their system. Or, you can attach one directly to an article in the Wikipedia encyclopedia. For this, you need to open an account. Follow these steps to add pictures where you want to.

Open an Account in Wikipedia

Go to Wikipedia's main page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page. You can also key in Wikipedia in any search engine.

Go to the top-right corner of the page. Click on "Create Account." Register by providing a username and a unique password. The account is created immediately. Your username will appear in red at the top of the page.

Go through the "Image Description" page to view the copyright status of the image before uploading it.

Go to the "Edit" tab/box of the article you want to add an image to.

Type the syntax code "{Image:Image name|thumb|caption}" where you want the image to appear. Change the thumb-width, the size already set for the picture, to 180 pixels. This should be your default size for Wikipedia. For better uploads, use the following syntax code: "{Image: name|type|location|size|caption}." The image name and caption are necessary. The other details are optional.

The default placement for uploaded images is on the left. Choose where you want the image you're uploading to go. You can place it at the top, right, left, or in the middle of the article. Or, the picture can be unaligned. Note where you want it to go with the proper syntax code. For example, to display an image at the right of the page, type "{Image: name|thumb|right|caption}."

You can float the text accompanying the image. To display the picture at the left side and float the text, type "{Image: name|left}." To display the image and not float it, type "{Image: name|none}."

Tips & Warnings
All uploaded image files have a separate image description page.
Avoid uploading huge files.
Image names are case-specific. If an image is called Picture.jpg, you will not be able to find it by searching for picture.jpg or Picture.JPG.
