How to Create a Text Link in Wikipedia

Don't just read Wikipedia articles. Contribute to them! You can create a text link when you open a Wikipedia account. Follow these steps to create a text link.

Instructions

    Open an account in Wikipedia

  1. Step 1

    Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page. You can also key in "Wikipedia" in search engines like Google or Yahoo.

  2. Step 2

    Go to the top right corner of the page. Click on "Sign in/create account." Register yourself by providing a Username and Password. Once you've been added, your Username will appear in red on the top of the page.

  3. Create a text link in wikipedia

  4. Step 1

    Enter the name of the article you want to edit in the search box on the left-hand side. Click on "go" or press "enter."

  5. Step 2

    Click on "edit this page" or "edit" on the side of each section.

  6. Step 3

    Log in to your account and start creating links.

  7. Step 4

    Insert the word you want to text link between a pair of two closed brackets [[ ]]. For example, if you want to create a link for the word "Pizza," it should use the following format: [[Pizza]].

  8. Step 5

    See the text link by clicking on "preview" and save the page.
