How to add links to your eHow in LinkedIn

You love the new eHow article you have written. Now you need to share this article with other people. LinkedIn, a social networking site for professionals with 8 million users provides a great way to share your article.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Log In to www.linkedin.com. If you already have an account, skip to step 6.

  2. Step 2

    Click “Join Now” in the middle of the page. You are now on the “Join LinkedIn” page.

  3. Step 3

    Enter your personal information. First, enter your Name, email, password, country and zip code under step 1. Under step 2, click on the appropriate box about your current employment. Be sure to choose an “industry” as well. Then, under step 3, you have the option of entering information about your level of education. Now, click on the links to “User Agreement” and “Privacy Policy”. Read both. Then click on the links to “User Agreement” and “Privacy Policy”. Read Both. Then click “Join Now” at the bottom of the page. You are now on the “How do you want to use LinkedIn?” page.

  4. Step 4

    Check the appropriate boxes under “To Find: What can your network help you with?” and “To Be Found: What kids of things do you want to be contacted about?”. Then, click “Save Settings” on the bottom of the page. You are now at your LinkedIn homepage.

  5. Step 5

    Now you need to confirm your email address. Check your email for an email from LinkedIn.com. Click on the link to confirm your email address. This should bring you back to the “Confirm Your Email Address” page. Click on “Confirm”. Now you are on the “Sign in” page. Enter your email address and password to sign in. Now you will be at your “LinkedIn” homepage.

    Click on the “My Profile” tab at the top of the page. You are now on the “edit my profile” page.

    Under profile, click “Add Websites”. You are now at the “My Profile: Additional Information” page.

  8. Step 8

    Under websites, choose a category. A good category for adding a link to a wehow article is “other”. Then, enter the title of the article to the right. Now you need to enter the URL of your article. The URL is the web address, or link to your article.

  9. Step 9

    First, you need to find the link to your article. To do this, go to www.ehow.com. At the top of the page in the middle, enter the title of your article in the “Google search box”. To the right of the search box be sure to click on the “ehow” box. Then click “search”. Your article should appear on the “search results”. Left click on your article.

  10. Step 10

    Now you need to copy the URL of your article. At the top of the page, where it says “address”, left click on the address. Then, Right click on the highlighted part and drag the mouse down to “copy”.

  11. Step 11

    Now you need to paste the URL. Return to the “My Profile: Additional Information” page at www.linkedin.com. Underneath the title of your article, Right click in the box that says “URL (ex. http://www.site.com). Scroll down to paste. You have now pasted the URL. At the bottom of the page, click “Save Changes”. You are now at the “edit my profile” page and it says “Your additional information has been updated” at the top of the page.

  12. Step 12

    Now you need to edit your public profile to make sure the link is visible to everyone. Click on “Edit my public profile” at the top of the page. Now you are on the “edit my public profile” page.

  13. Step 13

    Scroll down to the blue box that says “Public Profile”. Click the circle next to the box that says “Full View”. Scroll down and be sure to check the box next to “Websites”. Click “Save Changes” at the bottom. The page should now read “Your public profile settings have been saved”.

  14. Step 14

    Check the changes you have made. Click on “View My Public Profile as others see it” near the top of the page on the right. Your profile should appear. Near the top of the page on the left, you should see the title that you entered for your article listed under “Websites”. Click on the link. This should bring you to your article.

  15. Step 15

    Congratulations. You have successfully posted a link to your eHow article on LinkedIn.com
