Open an Account in Wikipedia

1. Enter the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page in your internet browser to get to the Main Page of Wikipedia. You can also key in 'Wikipedia' in search engines Google or Yahoo.
2. Go to the top right corner of the page. Click on ‘Create account’ and register by providing your username and a unique password. The account gets created immediately and the username you selected will display on top of the page.

3. Enter the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page to enter the main page of Wikipedia. Go to the search box and enter the name of the article you want to edit. Click on ‘Go’ or press ‘enter’ to be directed to the required article. If you are creating a new page, insert the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Starting_a_new_page in your internet browser and skip to Step 3.
4. Click on ‘edit this page’ or ‘edit’ on the side of each section to go to the edit page.
5. Enter the name of the portal to which you want to link in square brackets. The format is [ [ : Portal : Name of the portal ] ]. For example, if you want to link to technology portal the format would be [ [ : Portal : Technology ] ].
6. See the preview by clicking on ‘Show Preview.‘
7. Click on ‘Save page’ and save the page.
